Tiki's Grill & Bar - Honolulu

As I mentioned in the in the last (quite a while ago, I'm noticing) posting, I'm looking for things that are uplifting.  Well today I have a little story to tell you that has nothing at all to do with Responsible Referrals, Real Estate or Homeless Kids but it fits with my New Years Resolution!

Tiki's Lanai - GREAT place for a party!
Recently, a friend called first thing in the morning informing me that being "stranded" in Honolulu isn't much fun.  I thought - "who do I know in Hawaii that might be able to help?".

Since my sister no longer lives there, I thought of a man who manages the restaurant where we held my daughter's wedding reception in the Lanai Room a number of years ago.   Now Michael and I have never really met but we're mutual contacts on Linked In.  As I had been very impressed with Tiki's Grill and Bar during the wedding reception, I had no problem recommending Michael and his venue on this social media outlet.

So I thought I'd try to get in touch with him to see if he knew someone who could help.  We needed luggage storage, something to eat and a place to lay down until the rest of my friend's party could catch up later in the evening.  An email was sent to Michael MIller at 7AM Honolulu time on a weekend morning asking for assistance.  Within an hour, I received a phone call.  "Certainly I can help!  I don't know why I checked my work email since I usually don't this early on a weekend, but just let me know what you need!"  I explained the situation and he was willing to handle the entire mess.  Again I need to remind you - I have NEVER met Michael.  And yet, just like that, from 7,000 miles away, he's willing to do whatever he can.

Afterward, I called to let him know that I was in his debt recognizing that in today's world, he is one rare and generous individual. Trying to pay him back I was told that he'd be happy to let me buy him a beer at Tiki's the next time I was in Honolulu.  Informing him that it could be years before that happens, he said, "Well, just promote Tiki's on Facebook when you can."  That's Easy!  Isn't this the kind of person you want to do business with?  I mean, really!

So here's a little promotion for Tiki's Grill and Bar located on the 21st floor of the Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel, 2570 Kalakaua, Honolulu, HI.

In honor of Michael Miller, the first TEN people who know they will be in Hawaii sometime during 2012 will get a $10.00 Gift Certificate to Tiki's.  Here's how you can win.

"Like" the Responsible Referrals Facebook page if you haven't already done so.  Then type the following on the Responsible Referrals Facebook wall:

My most sincere "thank you" to Michael for his extraordinary generosity.  It is a pleasure to call you friend.  And do not doubt that the next time I'm in Hawaii, we WILL have that beer!
