It's Business . . .

It's been quite a while since I've posted.  I suppose I needed a break while evaluating the Responsible Referrals business model.  Today, I was thinking about a recent meeting in Minneapolis with one of my favorite nonprofit organizations.  After explaining how Responsible Referrals works, the Executive Director looked at me and said, "Why wouldn't everybody do this?" "Exactly!", I replied. 

As with most people, I am deluged with emails from multiple accounts, text messages, Facebook posts (both personal and corporate), blog subscriptions and Google alerts.  And, as of today, I can now add Twitter to my list.

So, with constant streams of information battling for my attention, it is truly amazing that anything gets through at all.

But - it does!

I read today's blog from Sasha Dichter.  My blogs tend to ramble but this one had just one line commenting on the title.  Ready?  Here it is.

Entitled "It's not personal, it's business." Sasha comments: "Really?  It seems to me like that's a big part of the problem."

Responsible Referrals is built on the idea that what we do is personal - very personal.  It's not just "business" - it's a life choice.  People need someone they can trust to handle their real estate needs and we work diligently to make sure that the agent and client are a great fit.  We take it personally.  And, when it's all over and title is transferred, we can't wait to send half of our gross revenue to a worthy nonprofit serving homeless kids and families. We take that personally too.

Sasha's comment is simple and yet quite compelling.  All I can say is, "EXACTLY!"
